Kansas City Wizards vs. Seattle Sounders FC

Game Time: 7:30 P.M.
TV: Kong

After a well fought 2-0 road win over Toronto FC the Sounders return home to play the Kansas City Wizards. This season Kansas City has a 1-2-0 record with 1 loss coming against Toronto FC at Kansas City, another loss at the Colorado Rapids, and their 1 win coming last week against the San Jose Earthquake.

Kansas City comes into Seattle scoring 5 goals in 3 games with 2 coming from Midfielder Davy Arnaud and a trigger happy F Claudio Lopez who has taken a total of 10 shots but with only 5 of those shots on goal. This still poses a big threat upfront because with the more shots he takes the better chance he has to score. The key to the Kansas City’s team is Goal Keeper Kevin Hartman. Hartman is one of the top GK in the MLS ever. He has 3 records already under his belt and is tops in all other records too. He has the record for most saves, wins, and shutouts. The problem is his defense is fairly weak and he has had 15 shots on him making it hard for him to keep his team in the game.

Sounders FC come into the game with a 3 game win streak, 9 total points (max. points), 280 minutes of clean sheets, and 7 total goals. This Sounders team so far has been everything but an ordinary expansion team. In their first two games they scored a total of 5 goals, and even when sent into a hostile environment without leading scorer Freddy Montero they still scored 2 goals with one from Ljungberg and Rookie Zakuani (both their first). This week I don’t expect it to end with the return of Montero and the power of him and Ljungberg up top together.

Keys to the Game:

-Osvaldo Alonso’s (if you don’t know him watch for him today) control of the midfield.

-Lots of pressure on the Kansas City defence from the whole offence.

-The Continuation of great play from Kasey Keller and his defence.

-Ride the momentum and the energy from the Crowd

With all this hype I don’t hope the Sounders will overlook Kansas City and come out lackadaisical, but I don’t see that happening with a Coach such as Sigi leading the team. My prediction is a 3-0 win for the Sounders (Free Hair Cuts For All)

Go Sounders!!
